Instaling internet explorer on linux machine

To install the internet explorer on linux machine, you need to install wine, cabextract binaries and then install ies4linux script.

Here goes the procedure:

* Open a konsole. Log in as root to install wine and cabextract:

yum -y install wine*
yum -y install cabextract

* Logout and install IEs 4 Linux with your normal user account:

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux

If you want to download an entire Web site, wget can do this task.

$ wget \
     --recursive \
     --no-clobber \
     --page-requisites \
     --html-extension \
     --convert-links \
     --restrict-file-names=windows \
     --domains website.org \
     --no-parent \
         www.test.org/tutorials/html/

he options are:

–recursive: download the entire Web site.
–domains test.org: don’t follow links outside test.org.
–no-parent: don’t follow links outside the directory tutorials/html/.
–page-requisites: get all the elements that compose the page (images, CSS and so on).
–html-extension: save files with the .html extension.
–convert-links: convert links so that they work locally, off-line.
–restrict-file-names=windows: modify filenames so that they will work in Windows as well.
–no-clobber: don’t overwrite any existing files (used in case the download is interrupted and
resumed).

mount: special device /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 does not exist

If you get the above error when mounting the volume group. You need to activate the volume group by running vgchange -an.

root@test[test]# mount /dev/VolGroup00/testVol00 /mnt/old
mount: special device /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 does not exist
root@test[test]# vgchange -a y /dev/VolGroup00/testVol00

Then mount the volume group to the desired folder.
root@test[test]#mount /dev/VolGroup00/testVol00 /test

Mailscanner load issues in Ensim 10.3.0

You can fix this by upgrading Mailscanner.

Steps:

1. Download the newer version of Dag’s build of clam including clamd.

wget http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/clamav/clamav-0.91-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm
wget http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/clamav/clamav-db-0.91-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm
wget http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/clamav/clamd-0.91-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh –nodeps clam*.rpm

2. Then change “User clamav” to “User root” in the clamd configuration file /etc/clamd.conf

3. Restart clamd.

service clamd restart

4. Built a later version RPM of MailScanner that supports clamd properly

wget http://www.penguin-uk.com/ensim/mailscanner-4.61.6-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh mailscanner-4.61.6-1.noarch.rpm

cd /etc/MailScanner
upgrade_MailScanner_conf MailScanner.conf MailScanner.conf.rpmnew > MailScanner.conf.new
mv MailScanner.conf MailScanner.conf.old
mv MailScanner.conf.new MailScanner.conf

5. Then edit the MailScanner.conf and change

Virus Scanners = clamavmodule to Virus Scanners = clamd
Clamd Socket = /tmp/clamd to Clamd Socket = /tmp/clamd.socket

6. Restart Mailscanner

service MailScanner restart

This should fix the load issues causing my MailScanner.

MailWatch Error in WHM

Error:

Error executing query:
Table ‘maillog’ is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

Fix:

You may need to drop the mailscanner database and recreate it.

Steps:

mysql -e “drop database mailscanner”
perl /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/3rdparty/mailwatch/install/mwadd.pl

Drive already mounted or busy

[root@cpanel ~]# mount -a
mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /backup busy

If you are getting the above error while mounting a drive on the server, then
do fdisk -l

[root@cpanel ~]# fdisk -l

You could see a entry for a drive /dev/dm-0.

Which will have a partition like /dev/dm-0p1

Actually there is no such drive or partition but it is due to driver mapping.

To resolve this issue, please issue the following command.

[root@cpanel ~]# dmsetup ls
ddf1_44656c6c202020201000006010281f0c354a4b5e21abf891 (253, 0)

It will list the device and you can remove it by executing the following
command:

dmsetup remove devicename

[root@cpanel ~]# dmsetup remove
ddf1_44656c6c202020201000006010281f0c354a4b5e21abf891
[root@cpanel ~]#

[root@cpanel ~]# dmsetup ls
No devices found

Now you will be able to mount the drive without any problem:

[root@cpanel ~]# mount /dev/sdb1 /backup

2. Get the installation script from layer1.cpanel.net.

3. Finally, run the shell script.

sh latest

FreeBSD:

1. Make a /home/cpins directory.

mkdir /home/cpins; cd /home/cpins;

2. Get the installation script from layer1.cpanel.net.

fetch http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest

3. Finally, run the shell script.
